Ulster County's Central Registry

  • The Central Registry is a mechanism to provide information and to help consumers and families connect to desired services.
  • Persons enrolled in the Registry will be given priority for service and support by the participating agencies.
  • The major agencies in the region that provide services to individuals with developmental disabilitiesi and their families have agreed to work together and share information.
  • Developmental disabilities include: mental retardationi, autism, cerebral palsyi, epilepsyi, and other neurological impairmentsi, including traumatic brain injury occurring before the age of 22.
  • If there are a number of requests for services not now offered, the Registry will inform participating agencies of what new services may need to be developed.
  • All information in the Central Registry is maintained by the New York State Office of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities.
  • It is shared only by participating agencies in accordance with all laws and regulations pertaining to confidentiality.
How Does it Work?
  • With one registration, an individual can receive information and potential help from all participating agencies.
  • Once registered, the specific needs of each individual are identified, and their requirements and preferences are described.
  • All Registry agencies have access to this information, and thus can provide the right services at the right time.
  • Information on an individual is updated when indicated, so that changes in services and support can be made on a timely basis.
